Installation & Adaptation Tips
IMPORTANT: After replacing the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) on VAG 1.6L MPI engines, a throttle self‑learning / idle relearn procedure is REQUIRED. Using a professional diagnostic scanner (VCDS / VAG‑COM) is strongly recommended.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5–10 minutes (clears old learned values). |
| 2 | Remove the air intake duct and disconnect the electrical connector (6‑pin D‑shape). |
| 3 | Remove any coolant hoses attached to the throttle body (if equipped). |
| 4 | Remove the four mounting bolts and old throttle body. |
| 5 | Discard the old gasket and clean the mating surface on the intake manifold. |
| 6 | Install a new gasket (strongly recommended – sold separately). |
| 7 | Install the new throttle body. Torque bolts to 8–10 Nm (6–7 lb-ft). |
| 8 | Reconnect coolant hoses, electrical connector, and air intake duct. |
| 9 | Reconnect the battery. |
| 10 | Turn ignition ON (do not start engine) and wait 10 seconds. |
| 11 | Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds. |
| 12 | Use VCDS / VAG‑COM to perform “Throttle Body Adaptation” – Basic Settings Group 060. |
| 13 | Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes (do not touch accelerator). |
| 14 | Turn engine off for 30 seconds, then restart and drive normally. The ECU will complete the adaptation. |
For EA111 / EA211 1.6L MPI: The battery‑disconnect method may not fully adapt the throttle body. Professional diagnostic equipment (VCDS) is highly recommended to perform Basic Settings Group 060. A relearn calibration procedure is mandatory after installation – do not skip this step. Always use a new gasket to prevent vacuum leaks.

How to Ensure You Get the Correct Part
-
Confirm your vehicle is a VAG model with a 1.6L MPI naturally aspirated EA111 / EA211 petrol engine (engine codes: CFNA, CPJA, CPD, BSE, BSF, etc.) – not 1.4L / 1.4 TSI / 1.8T / 2.0L.
-
Check your vehicle model and year against the fitment table.
-
Locate the original part number on your existing throttle body – look for any of the listed OE numbers.
-
Verify the connector has 6 pins and is D‑shape.
-
Measure or confirm the throttle bore diameter is 50–52mm (OEM spec for 1.6L MPI).
-
Check the mounting bolt pattern (4 bolts) and air intake duct connection match the product photos.
-
Note that a new mounting gasket is not included and must be purchased separately.
-
Contact us with your VIN or a photo of your original part if unsure.
Important: This throttle body is for 1.6L MPI naturally aspirated engines ONLY. It will NOT fit 1.4L / 1.4 TSI / 1.8T / 2.0L / 2.0 TSI engines, mechanical throttle cable systems, diesel engines, or any non‑VAG vehicles without verification.
After‑Sales & Disclaimer

-
Relearn requirement: A throttle relearn calibration procedure is mandatory after installation. Professional diagnostic equipment (VCDS) is strongly recommended.
-
Professional installation recommended: If you are not comfortable performing the adaptation procedure, professional installation is recommended.
-
Warranty: This product carries a 12‑month warranty against manufacturing defects. The motor and sensors are covered for 24 months.
