Vehicle Fitment – Compatible with (1.6 ATK / 1.4L 2V):
| Make | Model (FAW / China) | Engine / Chassis | Years | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen | Jetta (Urban / City) | 1.6L 8V (ATK) – 1595cc | 2000 – 2005 (Chassis: Jetta City, Saloon) | 64 kW / 86 HP – 4‑door sedan, 5V (5‑valve) engine management; produced by FAW‑Volkswagen for the Chinese market |
| Volkswagen | FAW Jetta (05 facelift) | 1.4L 4‑cylinder (2V) | 2005 | 1.4 engine for certain market variants |
⚠️ Important: This throttle body is designed for 1.6L ATK engine vehicles built by FAW‑Volkswagen. Not compatible with North American or European Jetta models from the same era unless they share the same Bosch ME Motronic drivetrain management and engine code, because the ATK engine family came with both 2‑valve (2V) and 5‑valve (5V) cylinder head designs depending on specific model year, and throttle body specifications differ between them. Please verify your original OE number and confirm the engine code before ordering.
This is an electronic throttle for M7.5.10 engine management (a Bosch system used in early‑2000s FAW‑Volkswagen vehicles) – it is not compatible with mechanical throttle cable systems.
Also not suitable for 1.8L ATK variants, diesel‑engine Jettas, or those equipped with earlier Simos/EMS engine management. Confirm the presence of Bosch Motronic M7.5.10 on your vehicle before ordering. The 52mm bore is the factory specification for these applications.

All refer to the same 52mm electronic throttle body assembly for the 1.6L ATK engine (also known as BJG for some Bosch 5V management versions). The ATK engine family includes both 2‑valve (2V) RSH (Roller Finger Cam) and 5‑valve (5V) cross‑flow designs; please verify your original OE number first. Dorman cross‑references977-361andTB1034may be interchangeable (verify by OE number). A direct‑fit plug‑and‑play unit with calibration required after installation, this throttle body makes for a perfect swap. Manufactured to OE Bosch specifications, with a 6‑pin connector.

🔖 Does AP matter? Yes! On FAW‑Volkswagen vehicles, the suffix after
06A133062is an integral part of the part number.* The AP designation (matching06A133062AP) is the correct suffix for this throttle body specification. Using a throttle body with a different suffix (e.g., B, J, K, L* etc.) will result in mismatched bore size, wiring pins, or flange pattern, leading to drivability issues. Keep the A and P suffix matching exactly.*
ℹ️ Bosch is the Original Equipment manufacturer for this throttle body. The 52mm bore is standard for these BOSCH Motronic–managed SOHC engines. All FAW‑VW Jetta sedans with ATK 1.6 engine management are confirmed fit. Verify OE number.

Common Symptoms of a Failing Throttle Body (FAW‑VW Jetta 1.6 ATK / Bosch Motronic)
-
Unstable idle, “hunting,” or engine stalling at stops
-
Poor throttle response – hesitation or flat spot during acceleration
-
Stalling when coming to a stop – especially after engine warm‑up
-
Inconsistent / high idle – RPM fluctuating with no throttle input
-
Check Engine Light (CEL) – common DTCs: P0120, P0121, P0162, P0220, P0638, P0697, P2100, P2101, P2119, P2135 (many relate to TPS, ETB electrical, or idle control)
-
Increased fuel consumption – due to incorrect air‑fuel mixture
-
Surging or hesitation during acceleration
-
Reduced power / limp mode
-
Poor cold start performance / difficulty starting
-
Audible whistling or sucking noises (air leaks around throttle body)
These symptoms are frequently reported on higher‑mileage FAW‑VW Jetta 1.6L ATK vehicles when the throttle body wears out or becomes fouled with carbon deposits. Proper adaptation after replacement is essential.
Installation & Adaptation Tips
IMPORTANT: After replacing the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) on the Bosch Motronic M7.5.10 system in FAW‑VW Jetta, a mandatory throttle adaptation (basic settings) procedure is REQUIRED. Failure to properly adapt will cause rough idle, erratic throttle response, and persistent CEL.
Step-by-Step Procedure – Mandatory:
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Ensure the engine is at normal operating temperature (cooling fan must not be active, or you can let it idle until the fan cycles off). |
| 2 | Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5–10 minutes (clears old adaptation values). |
| 3 | Remove the air intake hose and disconnect the electrical connector (6‑pin D‑shape). |
| 4 | Remove the 4 mounting bolts and the old throttle body. |
| 5 | Clean the mating surface on the intake manifold thoroughly. |
| 6 | Install a new OEM gasket (highly recommended, sold separately). |
| 7 | Install the new throttle body. Torque bolts to 8–10 Nm (6–7 lb-ft). |
| 8 | Reconnect the electrical connector and air intake hose. |
| 9 | Reconnect the battery. |
| 10 | Turn ignition ON (do NOT start the engine) and wait 10 seconds. |
| 11 | Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds. |
| 12 | Use VCDS / VAG‑COM (or a professional scanner with VAG support) to perform “Throttle Body Adaptation”: Access Engine control module → Basic Settings → Group 060 (for 2‑valve 1.6L ATK/RSH) or group 098 (for 5‑valve version). Follow on-screen prompts to complete adaptation. The adaptation must show “Adapt OK”. |
| 13 | Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes (do NOT touch the accelerator pedal). |
| 14 | Switch off the engine for at least 30 seconds, then restart and test drive normally. The ECU will complete fine‑tuning over the next few drive cycles. |
| 15 | Check for CEL; if still present, re‑scan for DTCs and clear them. |
For FAW‑VW Jetta ATK (Motronic M7.5.10): The 1.6L 2V engine (RSH) uses Basic Settings Group 060. The 1.6L 5V version (BJG) uses Group 098. Using the wrong group will not adapt the throttle correctly. The simple battery‑disconnect method alone may not complete adaptation – a professional scanner (VCDS/launch X431) is strongly recommended. After replacement, the ECU may take a few drive cycles to fully adapt. Carbon cleaning is also advisable to prevent recurrence – use a dedicated throttle cleaner and a soft brush, covering the electrical connector port to avoid contamination. Use of a new gasket prevents vacuum leaks that affect idle quality and drivability.
