Common Symptoms of a Failing Throttle Body

  • Unstable idle, "hunting," or engine stalling

  • Acceleration lag or delayed throttle pedal response

  • Check Engine Light (CEL) – common DTCs: P0120, P0220, P2119, etc.

  • Cruise control malfunction or inoperability

Installation & Adaptation Tips

IMPORTANT: After replacing the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) on a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, a professional diagnostic scanner is REQUIRED to perform throttle alignment/adaptation.

Step Action
1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes (clears old learned values).
2 Install the new throttle body, reconnect the plug and hoses.
3 Turn ignition ON (do not start engine) and wait 10 seconds.
4 Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
5 Use a professional diagnostic scanner (e.g., STAR, XENTRY, or high-end OBD2 tool) to perform "Throttle Body Adaptation" or "Idle Relearn".
6 After adaptation, start the engine and let it idle until the cooling fan engages – do not press the accelerator during this time.

For Mercedes-Benz: The general reset procedure (battery disconnect + key cycles) is often insufficient. Professional scanner adaptation is highly recommended to avoid driveability issues.

How to Ensure You Get the Correct Part

  1. Confirm your vehicle model, chassis code, and engine code match the fitment table.

  2. Locate the original part number (OE) on your existing throttle body.

  3. Compare product photos with your original part (especially connector shape).

  4. Contact us with your VIN or a photo of your original part if unsure.

After-Sales & Disclaimer

  • Pre-installation check: Inspect the exterior and connector pins for any deformation. Verify the OE number and plug shape before installation.
