Common Symptoms of a Failing Throttle Body

  • Unstable idle, "hunting," or engine stalling

  • Acceleration lag or delayed throttle pedal response

  • Check Engine Light (CEL) – common DTCs: P0120, P0220, P2119, etc.

  • Cruise control malfunction or inoperability

  • Reduced power / limp mode

Installation & Adaptation Tips

IMPORTANT: After replacing the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) on Ford/Lincoln vehicles, a throttle relearn (idle learn) procedure is required.

Step Action
1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes (clears old learned values).
2 Install the new throttle body, reconnect the plug and hoses.
3 Turn ignition ON (do not start engine) and wait 10 seconds.
4 Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
5 Start the engine and let it idle for 3 minutes (do not touch accelerator).
6 Turn engine off for 1 minute.
7 Start again and drive normally – relearn is complete.

For Ford/Lincoln 3.5L/3.7L: The above procedure typically works. If issues persist, use a professional diagnostic scanner (e.g., Ford IDS or compatible tool) to perform a "Throttle Body Relearn" or "Idle Trim Relearn".

  3. Compare product photos with your original part (especially connector shape and bolt pattern).

  4. Match your OE number with our list above.

  5. Contact us with your VIN or a photo of your original part if unsure.

After-Sales & Disclaimer

  • Pre-installation check: Inspect the exterior and connector pins for any deformation. Verify the OE number and plug shape before installation.
