Common Symptoms of a Failing Throttle Body

  • Unstable idle, "hunting," or engine stalling

  • Acceleration lag or delayed throttle pedal response

  • Check Engine Light (CEL) – common DTCs: P0120, P0220, P2119, etc.

  • Cruise control malfunction or inoperability (if equipped)

Installation & Adaptation Tips

IMPORTANT: After replacing the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB), some vehicles require a throttle self-learning or idle relearn procedure.

Step Action
1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes (clears old learned values).
2 Install the new throttle body, reconnect the plug and hoses.
3 Turn ignition ON (do not start engine) and wait 10 seconds.
4 Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
5 Start the engine and let it idle until the cooling fan engages – do not press the accelerator during this time.

For Daewoo/Chevrolet Matiz/Spark: The above procedure typically works. If issues persist, use a professional diagnostic scanner to perform a throttle body adaptation (e.g., with GM Tech2 or compatible tool).
